Assiduous, consistent and organised, Blackjack, who has been putting out high-quality material for the past few years and whose real name is Daniel Ankrah, bestrides good and great tracks. His latest release, 'That's When You'll Know', with the young and very talented Ellis Aaron on vocals, properly encapsulates the fact. It is not just a great tune but a quintessential warmer to any night.

What sets him apart from most producers are his work ethic and focus. Breaking away from the soulful house group, Circle of Funk, to journey solo, demonstrates that solitude can sometimes move more than partnerships. Observing his careful and undeviating trek, it was a sound decision and is a clear indication of him knowing what he wants and doing what it takes to get it. His new single with Aaron, for instance, is already making some noise on UK radio.

A 2022 interview with BCFM radio reveals his relaxed yet forward-moving nature and that he, funnily enough, like most musicians who do not read notes, has "glasses on his ears". Discovering a song that he remixed called "Spin It Round", during the chat, further reveals that the best is yet to come from this naturally-gifted artist. It is a well-constructed remix which will have any listener assuming is the original.

Maturity leads his endeavours along with a recognisable love for music. Blackjack is proof that you can begin again at any point in your life. The only rules are the ones you create and the games you play are the ones you pick to play in the space you build. At the end of the day, living room or bedroom, with happy creativity bouncing off the walls and music encircling the air, the house will always win.
